Board of Education Vacancy
Central CUSD 4 Board of Education Announces Vacancy
The Central Community Unit School District 4 Board of Education is accepting applications from qualified residents interested in serving on the Board of Education following the resignation of Board Member Nate Henrichs, effective July 19, 2026. The Board is required to fill the vacancy within 60 calendar days.
In accordance with Illinois School Code (105 ILCS 5/10-10) and Board Policy 2:70, the Board intends to appoint a qualified individual to fill the vacancy. The individual appointed will serve on the Board of Education until the next election in April 2027, at which time the remaining unexpired term will be filled as provided by law.
Eligibility Requirements
Per School Board Policy 2:40, a School Board member must be, on the date of election or appointment, a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age, a resident of Illinois and Central CUSD 4 for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment, and must be a registered voter.
Additionally, because Illinois law limits the number of school board members who may reside within the same congressional township, and Illinois School Code states that “the successor, whether elected or appointed by the remaining members or a regional superintendent, shall be an inhabitant of the particular area from which his or her predecessor was elected,”applicants for this vacancy must reside in Congressional Township 28 North, Range 13 West.
Reasons making an individual ineligible for Board membership include holding an incompatible office, being a child sex offender, as defined in State law, having a prohibited interest in any contract with the District, and certain types of prohibited State or federal employment (e.g., an employee of Central CUSD 4).
