Mrs. Clifton's English Classes

Hello! My name is Ashley Clifton, and I teacher English here at Central High School. This is my 8th year teaching, and I teach English 2, English 4 and 4 Honors, Creative Writing, and I'm a Reading Specialist.

Here is a preview of what's coming this semester for my classes...

English 2: English 2 is a course designed to prepare students for reading in different content areas. They will be taught explicit reading strategies for non-fiction that are designed to assist with reading comprehension in their other classes.

English 4: We are beginning a unit on the Rhetorical Appeals (Ethos, Pathos, and Logos) and their use in persuasion. Students will learn about these appeals and use them in a Rhetorical Analysis essay in which they will analyze a piece of media. This will take place during 3rd quarter.

English 4 Honors: For 3rd quarter, the senior honors class will be reading the gothic classic, Frankenstein. Students will do many interactive activities while reading this classic. During 4th quarter, we will read the contemporary novel, Thirteen Reasons Why.
