Welcome to Kindergarten

May 24, 2018

Welcome to a new school year! My name is Kristen Gray and I have been a teacher for 21 years. This is my eighth year teaching kindergarten at Chebanse Elementary. I live in rural Ashkum with my husband, Charles, and my 3 children, Thomas, Alex and Alana. I have a bachelors degree from Illinois State University in Special Education, and a masters degree from Governors State University in Early Childhood Education.

My philosophy on early childhood education is that children can learn best when they feel safe, loved and are having fun. In kindergarten, that is what we are all about. In our K2 family, we help each other, encourage each other, and learn from each other all while we are having a great time.

By the end of kindergarten, your child will be reading sight words, sounding out unfamiliar words, reading stories and writing sentences. They will be counting to 100, recognizing all the numbers and even adding and subtracting them. Kindergarten is a big year around here!

I am excited about this year and am looking forward to getting to know all of you!
