As most of you know, Governor JB Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Illinois High School Association recently opened up athletic contests in Illinois. This is great news for the student-athletes at Central High School.

Many students have been without sports for nearly a year, as all spring sports were canceled. Only two sports – cross country and golf – had fall seasons. Now, begins the challenge of seeing the sports through to completion.

Mr. Fenton has worked tirelessly with other athletic directors to create schedules for our teams. He is limited as far as schools that can be scheduled. The opposing school has to be in our conference (Sangamon Valley Conference) and/or within our COVID region. Even though we are only 10 miles from Herscher/St. Anne/Tri-Point, we are unable to play them because they are in a different region. However, we are able to play Momence – in a different region – because they are in our conference. A boys and girls basketball schedule is attached with this letter. As additional sports schedules are completed, they will be released.

We are limited in the number of fans that may be in attendance.

  • We are going to allow 50 home fans to in attendance.
  • It will be on a ticketed basis.
  • Spectators must sit 30 feet from the playing surface and be masked.
  • For spectators that are not able to attend, we will be streaming through the National Federation of High School Network. Instructions are attached with this letter.

Have a good weekend.
