Dear Parents and Guardians,

While this school year has not been what anyone would wish for, I hope each of you can find something you are thankful for this holiday season.

I know I am personally grateful for our teachers’ and paraprofessionals’ ability to adapt to incredibly difficult circumstances, our parents who have worked with us for the schedule changes and helped their children when remote learning was required, our cafeteria workers for preparing meals, our custodians for keeping buildings clean and sanitized, our principals for their leadership, our administrative assistants for keeping tabs on everyone’s symptoms and quarantine information, and our students who have demonstrated tremendous patience and perseverance over these last months.

Our Thanksgiving break will begin November 25, 2020.  Students will return to school on November 30, 2020 with a return to the Phase II schedule with a 1:00 dismissal at Chebanse Elementary and a 1:30 dismissal at Nash Middle School and Central High School.  Preschool will continue on their current schedule. We found the need to provide more time to assist students that have not only chosen remote but also those students that have to go remote for shorter periods of time due to quarantine restrictions.  Those numbers fluctuate daily for us.  The positivity rate for the district can be found on the website at cusd4.org.

There will also be a remote planning day on December 7, 2020 where students will not need to attend school physically or remotely.  Five remote planning days are allowed for each district this year.  This will be the second planning date that has been used.

It’s been a challenging year, but we will continue to get through this together. Please be safe this holiday season and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Tonya Evans
