Music Notes-November Edition 2019

February 06, 2020

In the Classroom

Kindergarten:  We loved singing our winter songs.  Reindeer Pokey was our favorite song to sing and dance along with.  Our next unit will be tempo:  slow and fast speeds.

1st Grade:  We have worked super hard on our winter songs.  The students have enjoyed their three songs:  Frosty the Snowman, Winter wonderland, and Jingle Bell Rock. We are ready for our concert, and excited to perform for everyone.

2nd Grade:  We are wrapping up winter concert songs: Let It Snow!, A Christmas Song, and Sleigh Ride.  We have worked super hard to memorize our long and difficult songs.  We will be working on tempo next.

3rd Grade and 4th Grade:  We have learned all four families of instruments:  Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, and Strings.  We are now starting to build our instruments with the recycling items brought in.  We have also learned some winter songs to sing at our assembly coming up in December.  The students were extremely excited to sing winter songs because their concert is in the spring.

Composer of the Month

Ludwig Van Beethoven

For the month of November, the students learned about a composer named Ludwig Van Beethoven.  They learned that he was a composer, conductor, and a pianist.  He was also a famous composer during his life, and wrote music for fifty years. The students learned that he became deaf in his 20s, but still continued to write music and perform.  They listened to part of his 5th symphony, and couldn’t believe he wrote and conducted the piece when he lost his hearing.
