Music Notes-October Edition 2019

February 06, 2020

In the Classroom

Kindergarten:  We have been working really hard on our patriotic songs for the Veteran’s Day Assembly on November 9th.  We also started our winter concert songs this month which are:  Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, Reindeer Pokey, and Nine Little Reindeer.

1st Grade:  We have been working really hard on our patriotic songs for the Veteran’s Day Assembly on November 9th.  We also started our winter concert songs this month which are: Frosty the Snowman, Jingle Bell Rock, and Winter Wonderland.

2nd Grade:  We are wrapped up our dynamic unit where the students learned how to identify soft, medium, and loud sounds in music.  They learned their Italian name, how to play them, and what types of sounds can fit the definition of each term.  They just started their winter concert songs as well.  They are:  Let it Snow, A Christmas Song, and Sleigh Ride.

3rd Grade and 4th Grade:  They just finished their unit for note durations in class.  They have learned the different types of notes, what they look like, how many beats they get, and how to count them.  We have begun our instrument unit, where at the end each class will build instruments.

Composer of the Month

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

For the month of October, the students learned about a composer named Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.  They learned that he was a musical prodigy, composing music at the age of 5.  He was also a famous composer during his life, and wrote music for high nobility and emperors.  The students really enjoyed listening to his music, and were able to play the piano to sum up the lesson because Mozart himself played the piano.
