Driver Ed Parent Meeting

Thursday, February 13, 2020

by Eva McGill

The Fall DE Parent Meeting for the 2019-2020 school year will be held on Tuesday, October 8 at 7:30pm in the my classroom (B148).  If you are unable to attend this meeting but would still like the information, please contact me through email or a phone call or send a message through your student.  I am happy to send the paperwork and information home with your student.  As always, if you have questions or concerns regarding Driver Ed, the permit or licensing process, or the Graduated Driver Licensing Laws please contact me!

The Spring DE Parent Meeting is scheduled for February 13 in the my classroom (B148).  Parents of 3rd quarter classroom Driver Education students should plan to attend.  (There are extra credit points up for grabs!)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We would like to invite you to attend the Driver Ed parent meeting ---  DATE AND TIME to be determined.  The CHS Driver Ed staff will provide you, the parent, with information about the Driver Ed process and laws and what is expected of you. Having a teenager of driving age in the house is a big adjustment for you and your teenager.  Some of you have been through this process already with older children and some of you are dealing with your first Driver Ed student.  Even if you have been through this before, we encourage each of you to attend as some of the laws and requirements have changed.  Plus, your student will receive some extra credit points in their Driver Ed class if you attend and sign-in!  We don't know too many students who wouldn't take some extra credit points!

At the meeting, we will discuss the following topics:
The Graduated Driver License Process.
Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel Phases of Driver Ed.
The Cooperative Testing Program with the Secretary of State Office.
GDL Laws regarding cell phones, seat belts, and supervised driving.
How you can help your student in the Behind-the-Wheel process.
When your teenager will begin the Behind-the-Wheel phase of Driver Ed.

There will also be Q&A time so come prepared with any questions you have about the process and we will get them answered.  We anticipate the meeting to last an hour but the time will depend a lot on how many questions we receive.  As always, if you ever have a question, please just give us a call or send an email at Central High School.

We want the Driver Ed experience to be a positive and educational one for both your teenager and you.  Thank you in advance for your hard work, time, and patience to help your teenager become a safe, responsible driver.  We hope to see you at the meeting.  If you are unable to attend, please notify Mrs. McGill for the information.
