This letter was sent home with students last week…
Dear Students and Parents,
We encourage our entire student body to be responsible community members and turn in their work on time. In an effort to be more consistent at Nash and communicate better with the parents, we are implementing a more defined policy for entering grades in Skyward.
A = absent and no zero is placed
N = missing work and a zero is placed
L = work turned in late and points are adjusted
No Count = A check will be put in the “No Count” column for items that will not count for or against earned points such as extra credit or classroom participation when a student is not present.
Absent work policy remains the same with a clarification on the procedure for posting. An A for absent work will be marked a zero and changed to an N following the absent policy and then late policy will be implemented. The absent policy states make-up work must be completed and turned in no longer than the period of the absence plus one day.
Late papers are accepted until the summative assessment (project or test) is completed. No credit will be earned if the assignment is more than two school days after the summative assessment has been posted on Skyward.
- 84% of earned points
- 84% of earned points when it is turned in within one class day
- 50% of earned points when it is turned in after one class late until stated above
At the end of each quarter all work must be turned in prior to the end of the school day designated as the end of the quarter regardless of any of the stated information above unless a student is absent.
Missing work will be marked with an N in Skyward. An N will remain an N even after the summative assessment but the teacher will uncheck the “missing” tab two days after the summative assessment is posted as the child can no longer earn points on those assignments.
If you have any questions or concerns about this information, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher directly or Mrs. Marquis.
