Nash Middle School
HOMEWORK HANGOUT: .Everyone in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade is invited to attend our Homework Hangout on Tuesday and Thursday after school until
4:30 p.m. with a classroom teacher. You will need a note from your parent/guardian in order to stay after school. Please contact the office if you have any questions. Homework has concluded for this year.
ATTENTION…CURRENT 5th GRADERS…all 6th graders for the 2014-15 school year MUST have a school physical with updated immunizations completed BEFORE the first day of school. Any student not in compliance by the first day of school will not be allowed to attend until they become compliant. Make your appointment early as the Dr’s office schedules fill up early. You may bring your physical and updated immunizations with you to the Residency Verification Days in August.
Also note: 6th Graders are also to have a dental exam form turned into the Nash office sometime during the year. You may do this as soon as you have this completed. Thank you.
YEARBOOKS: There are a few yearbooks still available for sale after 9:00 a.m. on June 4th . See Mrs. Regez with exact amount of $16.00 or a check to John L. Nash.
Recycling Days for Summer 2014 are Friday, June 20 @ 4:30-7 pm at CHS, Saturday, June 21 @ 8-11 am at Clifton Lions Sign, Friday, July 18 @ 4:30-7 pm at CHS, Saturday, July 19 @ 8-11 am at CHS, and Friday August 15 @ 4:30 – 7 pm at CHS.
There will be a recycling area outside of the CCLD over the summer for dropping off materials.
We look forward to helping free the landfill by doing our part. CHS Recycling Club.
FALL PICTURE DAY....August 29, 2014
SMILE ILLINOIS....will be here Nov. 17, 2014. The mobile dentist from Smile Illinois will be coming to Nash Middle School on Nov. 17. This would be a great opportunity for your child to have the REQUIRED 6th grade dental exam if you have not already taken care of it. If interested in using this service, you will need to fill out a form that will be available before the Nov. 17 date.
NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION/RESICENCY VERIFICATION DATES...at the District Office in Ashkum on Aug. 4th, 5th, and 12th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
RETURNING STUDENTS RESICENCY VERIFICATION DATES...at any school office will be on Aug. 5th from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Aug. 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
First student attendance day in 2014-1015 school year is August 19, 2014 and it is a full day.
The Disney Trip for CHS in 2018 might seem far away, but start fundraising now, and you can help cover the cost of the trip. Please make sure that students sign up in the slots assigned to students and adults sign up in only the adult slots.

Any girl entering 5th – 12th grades, there is a flyer in the middle school office for summer volleyball camp. Camp is June 23rd -27th and the cost is $40 which includes a camp shirt and contest awards. Forms are due to Mrs. Benoit by June 6th in order to guarantee a shirt.
Girls' Basketball Trip to Chicago Sky game: If you did not sign up for the Sky game but would still like to go, there is 1 ticket available. The cost is $31, which includes ticket to the game, pre-game shoot-around practice, a gift from the sky, and autograph session following. Please contact Coach Stimson immediately at school if you'd like to go! The game is on Tuesday, June 10. We are leaving from the Uptown Grille in Chebanse at 3:30 p.m. and will return at approximately 11:30 p.m.
GUARD CAMP…the purpose is to teach you basics and a short routine which will be performed on the football field with the high school band at the first game. Come join the fun! (new) Handouts are available in the office.

SOFTBALL CAMP: Coach Boicken is having a softball camp for ANY girl entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. This camp will run July 7th thru 11th AND July 22 thru 25 at the Chebanse Ball Diamonds. The total cost of this camp will be $40.00 and will include a camp shirt if the form is returned by June 15th. Forms are available in the school office.
Running Camp: Come Join The Wildcat Cross Country Camp! June 2 – 13 Monday through Friday 6:30 - 7:45 pm Rain or shine! Students going into grades 5 - 8. Cost of the camp is $20.00/runner. Each runner registered by June 3rd will receive a camp T-shirt. Camp will include instructions in training, racing and health. Daily activities will include group stretching, group runs, camp style games, and relay races. Daily prizes and awards can be earned. Remember to bring a water bottle that can be carried as you run! Only wear proper running shoes. No basketball, volleyball, or walking shoes. All running levels accepted! Runners will be grouped based on experience. Parents are invited to come along and help out, as we will need a variety of running abilities to aid with these different experience levels. Camp will meet each day at the Perry Farm Gazebo, located north of the Exploration Station. For Information Contact John Bevis 815-955-5433 or Preston Provost 815-651-7747. SUMMER BOYS BASKETBALL CAMP(available from Coach Kunsch) …mail forms to Coach Josh Sertich
- 2nd – 5th grade June 9 – 13 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
- 6th – 8th grade June 9 – 13 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Register by MAY 30th to guarantee a shirt
- Location: Nash Middle School Gym
- Fee: $35 per athlete; $50 for 2 campers; $60 for 3 or more
- Registration forms are available in the Nash office or in the gym from Coach Kunsch
OAK ORTHOPEDICS SPORTS PHYSICALS will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 9:15-10:30am for students entering grades 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12.
- Cost per student $20.00 cash only.
- Bring IHSA/IESA completed form.
- Parent signature on form.
- Student dress: Tank top and shorts.
All money paid for physicals on that day will go back to our school!!!!! PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!
Registration is now underway for the CCLD Summer Reading Program. This year's theme is "PAWS TO READ". The program will begin the week of June 10th and finishes the first week of July. The program includes reading, snacks, crafts and fun activities. Students in Grades 6-12 can participate in an overnight at the library. Students read to earn a special end of the year trip. Forms for registration are available in the library. Students must have a valid CCLD card. For more information contact the library at 815-694-2800.

ON THE EXTRA-CURRICULAR SCHEDULE:
BASEBALL TRYOUTS: will be Aug. 4th – 6th from 8 – 10 a.m. (time subject to change) for the upcoming school season. Next year’s 6th – 8th graders interested in trying out need to sign up on the sheet on Coach Kohn’s door. This will help us check to make sure everyone has a physical on file. If you need a new physical (one that is less than one year old) please make your dr appointment early as you must have a current physical before trying out. Don’t forget the OAK Orthopedics Sports Date as an option.
