Attention Nash Parents: All 6th graders are required to have a dental exam, if you have not turned one in, please do so ASAP. The end of the year is fastly approaching and they must be turned in. For those 5th graders please remember that you must turn one in for next year. Thank you

 

HOMEWORK HANGOUT:  has ended for this current school year.  No one should stay on Tuesday or Thursday after school.  Watch for homework hangout dates to resume next school year.

YEAR END SCHEDULE:

June 2 – Early release at 2:00 p.m.

 

IMPORTANT…ONLINE REGISTRATION…has ended.  If you have not registered your students for next year, you will need to call the office for instructions.  Only residency verification will be held in August.

 

2015-16 SCHOOL YEAR DATES FOR YOUR INFORMATION

  • New Students to the District may register at the Unit office in Ashkum on the following dates and times:  August 4 from 8 – 4; August 4 from 8 – 4 and August 10 from 8 – 4.
  • Residency Verification dates will be on August 6 from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. and August 10 from 7:30 a.m. to noon.  Please enter through the library entrance and verification will take place in one central location at the CCLD Library.
  • Freshman Focus will August 17 and August 18 from 9 - 12
  • Offices will be closed to the public on August 7, August 14, and during the Teacher Institute Day on August 20.
  • Open House will take place on the evening of August 20.
  • Office will be open on August 21.
  • 1st Day of Student Attendance will be on August 24 – full day
  • Picture day at Nash and CHS will be August 28

 

FOR YOUR INFORMATION…5/6/7 grade report cards will not be ready to hand out on the last day of school – June 2.  They will be posted on Skyward when complete.  8th grade reports will be handed out at promotion.  If any 5/6/7 grade parents would like a print out, please stop in office and we will be glad to print one.

 

8th Grade Girls Basketball: for incoming freshmen – make sure you get your HS basketball camp form turned in by TODAY. Payment isn’t due until the 1st day of camp, but the registration is due to guarantee a shirt.

 

BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR from Catholic Charities will be held on Saturday, August 1 at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL.  Registration opens Monday, June 15 at Catholic Charities, 249 S. Schuyler Ave. in Kankakee (above the Love Bookstore – entrance in back alley)  Participation is income-based.  Registration is limited so hurry in!  For more information call 815-933-7791

There are still a few yearbooks available for sale.  Please see Mrs. Regez if you wish to purchase one for $17.00.

 

 

***********ATTENTION PARENTS************** For all 5th, 6th, and 7th graders who need PE uniforms for next year, please contact Amy at asmith@cusd4.org .  You can pay for them online once you have notified me and I have inputted the charges to your account, but I must know that you are ordering, so that I can add the charge into the program. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.

The CCLD is looking for some items for the Summer Reading program. If anyone has Pringles cans or musical instruments that they would like to donate, (either child’s play instruments or old, real ones that are no longer wanted) it would be appreciated. You can bring them in to the library or call the CCLD at  815-694-2800 for more information.

The CCLD is starting registration for the summer reading program “READ TO THE RHYTHM”. The program runs from June 9 –July 2. The program is for all ages and is open to residents of the Central Citizens’ Library District.  5th Grade students sign up for one hour sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday and 6th -8th Grade students are part of the TWEEN group that meets on Wednesday afternoons. The TWEEN group also gets to have an overnight at the library! By reading and participating in the program students can earn a trip to see a play at a Chicago theater. Registrations sheets are available in the library. For more information you can also call the library at 815-694-2800.

2015 COMET BOYS BASKETBALL CAMP

  • 2nd – 5th grade – June 8 – 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • 6th – 8th grade – June 8 – 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • REGISTER BY May 29 to guarantee a shirt
  • Location – Nash Middle School Gym
  • Camp fee - $35.00 per athlete; $50.00 for 2 campers; $60 for 3 or more.

Lil’ Lady Comet Basketball Camp

 

  • June 15 – 18 at CHS Gym
  • 3rd – 5th grades: 9 – 10:30a.m
  • 6th – 8th grades:  11 – 12:30 a.m.
  • Cost $30.00 per camper or $50.00 for 2 from same family
  • Note on  last day camp will go an extra half hour for games…

Turn in form by Wednesday to guarantee a shirt.  Girls Basketball Camp Forms are due by Wednesday, June 3, to guarantee a shirt. Get your forms turned in today!

 

Please Mark Your Calendars:  There will be an early release day on June 2 at 2:00 p.m. for Nash and CHS.  Students’ last full day of school will be on Tuesday, June 2 but again we will have the early release of 2:00 p.m. that day.

 

YEARBOOKS…We still have a few yearbooks for $17 available in the office.

Put Your name in your yearbooks immediately. Lost/stolen yearbooks cannot be replaced.

KCC SUMMER 2015 SPORTS CAMP…information for the Co-ed basketball and Girls volleyball camps is available in the office if you are interested.  For more information call KCC Athletic Department at 815-802-8600.

SPORTS PHYSICALS FOR 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEARAthletic Physicals will be on Saturday, June 6th at OAK Orthopedics from 9:00-10:30 AM (see link to flyer below). All students MUST take the IHSA/IESA physical form with them, and page one needs to be completed and both sides signed. The forms are available in the middle school office.  The cost of the physical is $20.00 - CASH ONLY! Please wear a tank top and shorts. All money is returned to the Central/NASH Athletic Departments, so this is a GREAT way to help your schooL financially, as well as get an excellent physical.

Incoming Sixth Graders and Freshmen MUST get a School physical, not a Sports Physical, which counts for both their sixth grade or ninth grade physical and their sports physical combined.

TRACK…Everyone, please give your uniforms DIRECTLY to your coach so they can give you your ribbon envelope.

 

CHS LADY COMET VB CAMP…stop in for a registration form for VB camp taking place July 6 – 10.  Grade levels 5 – 8 and 9 – 12.

BASEBALL…Any incoming 6-8th grade (if you are in 5-7th grade this year) boys that are interested in trying out for the baseball team for next school year need to sign up on the sheet outside of Coach Kohn's room.  Be sure to take the information sheet home too!

5th 6th and 7th grade girls:  Please see Coach Lemenager to sign up for softball tryouts.   Tryouts will start Monday July 27th!!! Time- tba

 

Jr. Guard…Camp will be June 1, June 2, June 3, and June 4 from 7 – 9 p.m.  Meet in the high school band room.  We will dismiss early on June 1 as there is still school the next day.  Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes and be prepared to go outside if the weather is nice.  Contact Emily Earls or Dorothy Holmgren if you have questions.  A form is in office with info.

 

Please start turning in your track uniforms on Wednesday.    Please wash them and bring them and we will hand you your ribbons for the year.  Thank you.

 

SOCCER…Any eighth grader interested in playing high school soccer but missed the soccer meeting on Wednesday can email Mrs. Adams for information that was discussed.  Contact Mrs Adams at aadams@cusd4.org.

Wrestling:  Camp will be held June 29 – July 2.  Registration will be Monday evening beginning at 5:00 p.m.  Monday – Wednesday 5:00 to 7:15 p.m. and on Thursday 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.  Cost is $40.00 for those entering 2nd grade through 12th grade.  Flyers are available in the office.

LUNCH:

June 2 – Ham sandwich, chips, green beans, pineapple
