Dear Parent(s) or Guardian,
Hello! Welcome to the exhilarating world of Kindergarten! This year is going to be one of excitement, learning, and great memories. I would first like to introduce myself. My name is Lane Walters. I will be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year. I will be observing, helping, teaching, and also learning from your child. This is my third year teaching at Chebanse Elementary. I grew up in a little town called Martinton, (I am sure you all have been there!) I attended Donovan grade school, Jr. High, and High School. After high school I went on to play softball at Parkland College, attended Kankakee Community College, and then went on to graduate from Governors State University in University Park. I had an amazing year last year and hope to have the same experience this year! I am extremely lucky to have been hired here at Chebanse! I currently live in Martinton, with my husband Russell and our three children. Our children; Alexis (11), Griffen (4), and Laylah Lou (2), keep us very busy. I also enjoy watching my husband play softball and cheering on the CUBS!!!
I am extremely excited to work hand and hand with your child and help continue their growth as a student and an individual. We have many fun and stimulating activities to do this year with your child. I will be sending a weekly letter home every Friday. This letter will help you understand what exactly is happening in K-1. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding my role as your child’s teacher. Communication between you, your child and myself is essential for a successful school year. I know we can work together as a team to make this the best school year for your child. You may call the school or e-mail me at lwalters@cusd4.org. Once again I anticipate this year to be enjoyable and memorable.
Thank you,
Lane Walters
