School Update as of March 21st, 2020

March 20, 2020

March 21, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This letter is being written to inform you of the Governor’s new order for the continued closure of schools to extend beyond March 30, 2020.  The current order issued by the Governor is to close all public and parochial schools in the state of Illinois through April 7,2020.  Schools are scheduled to reopen on April 8, 2020.

As a district, we will provide e-learning activities and lessons with students beginning March 31, 2020.  The district presented an emergency e-learning plan to the Regional Office of Education at the time of the first mandated school closure.  The plan was accepted for use during these periods of school closure and pandemic conditions.

The closures affect all programming at the school, including before and after school activities, all athletic and extracurricular practices and competitions, and weekend events.

We are aware that there are students and families that do not have the needed resources for e-learning.  We will work to provide paper copies available as well and announce dates/times that our buildings will be open for parents to come pick up printed materials if needed.

We have also submitted the preliminary technology needs for our district, including the needs of students and staff, to the State Board of Education.   At this time, we are unsure of what types of assistance may be provided to the district.

We will also update you on the availability of grab and go meals for students that are in need within the district.

We are aware that many more questions will continue to arise.  Thank you for your cooperation with us as we transition into the e-learning curriculum.  We know that these are very uneasy and concerning times for all of us.  We need to work together to provide the best that we can for our students during this time of national health concern.

Sincerely,

Tonya Evans
