Schafer nominated for U.S. Presidential Scholar

October 26, 2015

Central High School senior Brooke Schafer was recently named one of five students from Illinois chosen as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in Career and Technical Education (CTE).

Schafer was nominated by Central High School teacher Brett Sorensen and Luke Allen, who is an Agriculture Program Advisor for the Facilitating Coordination in Agricultural Education. Schafer was selected because she demonstrated academic rigor, technical competence, employability skills, and ingenuity, creativity and problem-solving skills.

Schafer’s name was submitted to the U.S. Department of Education, where she will receive an invitation in January 2016 to fill out and submit another application to the Department of Education by February 2016. Winners of national U.S. Presidential Scholars in CTE will be announced in May 2016.

Schafer is the daughter of Dennis and Barbara Schafer, of Chebanse.
