May 21, 2012
The Nash Track team had good performances at the IESA State Track Meet over the weekend. In fact, they were good enough to have two individuals and two relay teams earn medals! On Friday, Andrea Pace ran the 1600M in 5:32.38 to take the 7th place medal. Emery Podowicz ran the fastest time in the Hurdle Prelims (16.62 seconds) and Semifinals (16.84) to cruise into the Finals on Saturday morning. Also competing on Friday were Trey Dowdy in the Hurdles (18.20), Hanna Gray (6:29.27) and Danny Hendricks(5:26.57) in the 1600M and Haley Rosenboom (69'9") in the Discus.
On Saturday, Nash started off with Jarod Meents (4'10") competing in the High Jump and Emery Podowicz in the Hurdle Finals. Emery had a great race time of 16.50 to win the first place medal! But Nash was not done competing. The 7th girls 4x200 finished in 1:54.38 to earn the 5th place medals. Then Danny Hendricks (2:31.37) and Lindsey Anderson (2:41.0) competed in the 800M Run. The last competition for Nash on Saturday was the 7th girls 4x400. They finished in 4:27.48 and brought home the 5th place medals.
The 20 points earned from the places of the 7th grade girls was enough for 6th place as a team. This is an amazing feat considering there were 242 schools represented at the meet. The future looks bright for the Central District Track programs.
