On Saturday January 14th the Nash 8th grade basketball team faced off against a familiar opponent, Iroquois West, in the semi-final round of the county tournament. This was the third time these two teams faced off. With relentless defense and solid shooting from the field, Nash earned a 47-33 victory. Zach Washington and Nathan Schoon lead the way with 20 and 10 points, respectively. In the championship game Nash was paired up against the Utes of Watseka. The game was a great battle between two quality teams each making their own run at the title. Midway through the 4th quarter Watseka took a two point lead. The Rockets answered right back. Zach Washington made three straight free throws to help his team to victory. Behind Washington's 22 points, 12 in the 4th, Nash earned a hard fought 39-37 victory. "We played hard today, and in our style of play. THis was tough playing two games inside 4 hours. I couldn't be prouder!" commented Coach Harry Kunsch. He continued, "This county championship was a TEAM effort!"
