2012 Bus Safety Drill
by Andrea Lemenager
Bus Evacuation Drill:
On September 12, 2012, Cindy Seibring, CUSD4 Transportation Director, conducted a bus evacuation drill for all Chebanse Elementary students. The drill stressed the importance of remaining seated, talking at acceptable noise levels, and what to do in the event of an emergency. All students need to understand what to do in case of emergency, even if they only ride on field trip days. Keeping your children safe is our main concern!
Always use caution when near the school grounds.
Be alert to children and adults that are entering
and/or exiting a school bus.
When a school bus is loading/unloading riders, it is required to have flashing lights and a stop arm engaged. It is unlawful to pass a school bus from either direction when a stop arm is active. Bus personnel are required to report any stop arm violations to the County and/or State police. (For your awareness, the current law may hold violators to a monetary fine and possible 3-month suspension if found guilty.)
