My name is Barb McLaughlin and I am a resource teacher at Chebanse Elementary. I have taught students with special needs for 27 years. I have also taught kindergarten and first grade for four years, and did substitute teaching in K-5th for 9 years.
I received dual bachelors degrees from Eastern Illinois University and a master's degree from Olivet Nazarene University.
My passion is children and helping them to be the best they can be: not only academically, but physically, socially, and emotionally as well. I believe in creating successful experiences for a child in order to foster self-confidence which, in turn, leads to greater success. This is done by discovering a child's preferred style of learning, strengths, and preferences among the multiple intelligences, then building educational experiences upon these.
As a resource teacher, I work closely with a child's homeroom teacher and the entire IEP team guiding the progress of IEP goals and objectives. I believe in the power of good communication and teamwork in order to help a child be the best he/she can be.
I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by contacting the school at 815 697-2642. After school hours I may be contacted at home at 815 421-0011. Please feel free to contact me.
