The Gingerbread Men Story!
(Getting to know our school)
Once upon a time there were 16 Gingerbread Men at Chebanse Elementary School. On the first day of school the students of K-3 colored, cut, and pasted the Gingerbread Men together to make a puppet. After all the students hard work, the class decided to take a rest by going to lunch and recess.
When the students returned from lunch and recess, the 16 Gingerbread Men were missing! The students of K-3 searched and searched, but the 16 Gingerbread Men could not be found. All of a sudden the students found a note to the class from the Gingerbread Men. The note read,
"Dear K-3,
We’ve run off. Yes it’s true. Catch us, catch, catch us if you can! We’ve gone to visit the women in charge! (Go to Principal)
Love,
The Gingerbread Men"
After Mrs. Basham read the note, the students of K-3 realized it was more than a note, it was a clue! The clue said to visit the woman in charge who was our new principal Mrs. Lemenager. The K-3 class lined up and went to the office where Mrs. Lemenager works. To the students amazement, Mrs. Lemenager found another note from the 16 Gingerbread Men, making this our second clue. Mrs. Lemenager read the clue to K-3 and the note said,
"Dear K-3,
This is the principal’s office. Mrs. Lemenager is nice to know! She told me not to run anymore, but to walk with my arms crossed wherever I go! We’ve walked off, arms crossed, quiet as a mouse. Yes it’s true! Catch us, catch, catch us if you can! We’ve gone to visit the person who cleans up after us! (Go to Janitor’s closet)
Love,
The Gingerbread Men"
The class had to figure out the riddle on the clue. Who cleans up after us? After a lot of thought, the students realized that it is the janitors who clean up after us at school. So the K-3 class lined up and headed to the janitors closet. To every ones surprise, another clue appeared and this time it was on the janitors closet. The clue said,
"Dear K-3,
This is the janitor’s room. This is where you find the mop and broom? They empty the baskets and lock the door. They all are so kind and good! Can we help them? We should! Always clean up before leaving school! We’ve walked off again. Yes it’s true. Catch us, catch, catch us if you can! We’ve gone to visit the ones who cook for us! (Go to Lunch room)
Love,
The Gingerbread Men"
Who cooks for us here at school? The students thought hard about the answer. The cooks in the cafeteria feed us lunch! Right then, a clue was spotted on the cafeteria door. The clue read,
"Dear K-3,
This is the kitchen and lunch room. They all like us a bunch! They make sure we have a good lunch. If we’re polite and help keep it clean, and use soft voices our school will be keen! Now we’ve walked off. Yes it’s true. Catch us, catch, catch us if you can! We’ve gone to visit the ones who answer the phones, help us when we are sick, and take attendance! (Go to Secretary)
Love,
The Gingerbread Men"
During this time, K-3 was getting very close to catching the Gingerbread Men. In order to get the next clue, K-3 had to go to the office to see the one who takes our attendance, helps us when we're sick, and much more! This person was our secretary Mrs. Boudreau. When K-3 got to the office, they did not see a clue. Mrs Boudreau searched the office until she found the clue. The next clue read,
"Dear K-3,
The office is a busy place. Mrs. Boudreau is the secretary who has a friendly face. She types with her left, writes with her right. When the phone rings she takes the call and works with all her might. She helps us when we are hurt or sick. Oh, no you have almost caught us. Yes it’s true. We’ve walked off to a new room. Catch us, catch, catch us if you can! We’ve walked and walked; now we need some rest. We think this room is the VERY best! (Go Back to classroom K-3)
Love,
The Gingerbread Men"
K-3 now knows where the Gingerbread Men are resting. Our classroom! So the entire K-3 class hurried back to our classroom and FOUND the 16 Gingerbread Men!
THE END!

Through this fun scavenger hunt, students were able to find important places within our school and meet those who help our school. Thank you to all those involved!
