Music Notes for February 2010

Groundhogs are rumored to be galloping towards the Chebanse Elementary Music Room.

We will be singing and/or listening to "100 Days of School" with the kindergarten. All of the classes will be learning the classic "Home, Home on the Range". We are learning about "instrument families" and listening to musical samples of instruments, when possible. As usual, I will demonstrate the 2-3 different sounds I can make on the flute. This is a good example of fluency (on the piano) vs non-fluency (on the flute) and what a difference having a teacher and practicing makes.

We talked belatedly of Beethoven in January, his birthday being in December, and honored Mozart this week, as his birthday was January 27th. There is so much great music in the world, and so little time!
