The Holiday Season is Right Around the Corner!!
As the temps outside are getting lower the classroom is only beginning to heat up. Here is a brief update on the happenings in A107:
World History-
Rome Rome Rome!! We have just finished an exciting unit on Rome. We study the growth of the Roman Republic and the key leaders of the empire. We also get a chance to watch the film "Gladiator" which is a highlight for the students after a few months of hard work. Next up we will take a glance at the far east and the development of China and India.
Intro to S.S.-
Students are currently concluding the Anthropology Unit. This unit is exciting as this topic often is one that they are not familiar with. We start things out by examining our own culture and then see how it has changed and developed through our young nations past. We then take a look at language and social issues that have challenged and changed throughout the world.
We will soon begin a study into genocide and connections both through culture and geography by viewing the film "Hotel Rwanda". This film is a great example of an issue that is still prevalent in todays society but is often forgotten. The social problems of Africa and other smaller nations in eastern Europe is a topic that continues to plague our lives.
World Geography-
Students have jumped the Atlantic and are focusing their attention on Europe for the next couple weeks. We have just concluded work dealing with Great Britain and the Scandinavian Countries of the North. Students are also completing a country research project in which they are conducting research within the computer lab on a frequent basis.
