We celebrated Red Ribbon Week here at Chebanse Elementary School the week of October 26th-30th. Red Ribbon Week is a national week set forth to raise awareness and celebrate the good choices our students make in staying away from alcohol, drugs and tobacco. Red Ribbon Week was conceived in 1985 when a Drug Enforcement Agent was killed fighting the war on drugs. The red ribbon represents a commitment to living a drug free life. This year’s theme is DRUG FREE IS KEY. We had several dress up days to honor being drug free and to celebrate Red Ribbon Week. The schedule was as follows:
Monday, October 26th: “Turn Your Back on Drugs” day – wear your clothes backwards
Tuesday, October 27th: “Sock It to Drugs” day – wear your wildest and craziest socks
Wednesday, October 28th: “Team Up Against Drugs” day - wear your favorite sports team apparel
Thursday, October 29th: “Color Chebanse Red” day - wear lots of red to show you choose to be drug free
Friday, October 30th: “Say BOO to Drugs” day - Halloween parties and the parade take place today so of course, wear your Halloween costumes!!!
