Regular up-dates of scholarships and other opportunities

There will be regular up-dates of scholarship and other opportunities that are available for all grade levels.  Some information will have web addresses that you can visit.  Copy and paste the web address to your web browser to access these scholarships and programs.  Some scholarships do not have a web address and these scholarships and applications can be acquired in the guidance office.  Scholarships highlighted in this color are scholarships that are due very soon or recently past due.  Scholarships highlighted in this color are scholarship that are newly listed.

  • Edna A. Willms Scholarship - based on achievement and financial need, character and involvement in school activities, volunteer activities, and community service - due May 1
  • American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship
  •   - Ada Mucklestone Memorial Scholarship (American Legion Auxiliary) - senior; child or grandchild of veteran;

        based on character, essay, leadership, scholarship, and need, not pursuing nursing due March 15

  • Cody J. Lehmkuhl Memorial Scholarship - senior who attended two years at Career Center, planning on attending a tec/trade school community college or university immediately following graduation - due May 1
  • 2017 Ford-Iroquois 4-H Foundation Scholarship - senior, 4-H member for the past five years, current 4-H club member in Ford or Iroquois club, sut have exhibited at 2016 4-H show - due May 1
  • Kankakee County Corn Growers Gene Novack Memorial Scholarship - accepted in an agriculture or agriculture-related field of study and parent or grandparent must be a member of the Kankakee County Corn Growers - due May 15
  • Women Changing the Face of Agriculture Agent of Change Scholarship - senior ladies pursuing and agriculture degree program - ask the counselor to email you the application - due May 26
  • Miner Charitable Foundation Scholarship - available January - senior with financial need for college, preference given to students pursuing an ag degree - due June 1
  • Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship - enroll in a community college, commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program, critical financial need, involved in co-curricular & community service, integrity & perseverance, 2.0 GPA - go to:  www.application.horatioalger.org - due March 15-June 1
  • Abbott and Fenner Annual Scholarship -  write a 500-1,000 word essay - go to:  www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm - due June 12
  • PLANETDISH.COM Scholarship - current seniors, 500 word essay which encourages critical thinking - go to: https://planetdish.com/dish-network-scholarship/ - due August 1
  • Wendy's High School Heisman Award - class of 2017 with a 'B' grade average, participates in at least one sport - apply online at www.wendysheisman.com - due October 2 for the class of 2018
  • Vincent E. O"Brien Iroquois County Scholarship - attend University of Illinois in Urabana-Champaign in the College of Engineering - U of I selects the student from the applications

Past Due or Future Scholarship Opportunities for 2015-2016

  • Gates Millennium Scholars - meets unmet need above what FAFSA scholarships will provide, must be an African American, American Indian/Alaskan native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American and citizen of US, 3.3 (unweighted) GPA, first time college studen in fall, demonstrated leadership abilities - go to: www.gmsp.org - due January 13
  • RMHC U.S. Scholarships - senior, eligible to attend a two of four year college - go to:  www.rmhc.org/rmhc-us-scholarships - due October 1 through January 20
  • American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship - A constitutional speech contest - due January 29
  • 2016 CBAI Foundation for Community Banking Annual Scholarship - seniors, essay contest emphasizing the philosophy of the community banking industry - due February 3
  • Americanism Essay Contest - three class goups for grades 7-12, less than 500 word essay - due by February 5
  • Beta Sigma Psi Martin Luther Scholarship - young men who will be attending their first year at any accredited four-year college or university, must be confirmed in the Lutheran faith - due February 13
  • Illinois PTA Scholarship - Senior, 3.0 non-weighted GPA, enrolled in an education or education-related degree program - go to:  www.illinoispta.org/scholarshipapplication.html - due February 15
  • Buick Achievers Scholarship - enroll in a four-year college or university, major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry- go to:  www.buickachievers.com - due February 28
  • National Defenese Transportation Association Scholarship - priority given to those in a degree program related to business, transportation logistics, or physicla distribution - due March 1
  • Illinois AHEC Community College Healthcare Hero Award - must life in Iroquois or Kankakee county, competed one semester at IL community college, planning to enroll full-time in a health science program at any IL community college, 2.5 GPA - received by March 14 at 4:00 PM
  • Illinois AHEC Future Healthcare Hero Award - must live in Iroquois or Kankaee county, pursue entry into any health science program, intend to practice in a rural setting, 2.5 GPA - received by March 14 at 4:00 PM
  • Sons of Confederate Veterans Scholarship - descendant of a male who served honorably in the army, navy, judicial, executive, or civil service of the Confederate States of America, lineage must be documented - due prior to March 15
  • AFT Robert G Porter Scholarship - Seniors who are dependents of AFT members - go to:  www.aft.org/about/member-benefits/scholarships - due by March 31
  • Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Scholarships - Health Career Fields, Sherwood & Evelyn Kresin, Robert B. Perkins, and Louis L Williams Scholarships - go to:  www.valleyofbloomington.org - due April 1
  • Bruce Spaulding Memorial Scholarship - current or past students of the Kankakee Area Career Center Fire Service program, you do not need to complete two years of the program - due April 15
  • America Library of Poetry Free Student Poetry Contest - grades 3-12, submit one poem - go to www.libraryof poetry.com - due April 30
  • Fund Scholarships - scholarships available for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgerder person and their children in Illinois - go to:  www.acornequalityfund.org - due September 23, 2016
  • Young Arts Award - students ages 15-18 or grades 10-12 may apply in the areas of cinematic arts, dance, design arts, jazz, music, photograph, theater, visual arts, voice, writing, spoken word - go to www.youngarts.org/apply - by October 14
  • "Make the U" Colgate-Palmolive Hispanic Scholarship - must be of Hispanic heritage, based on 3 short essays of 500 words or less - go to www.colgate.com/hazlau  - submitted by October 15
  • Horatio Alger National and State Scholarship - senior, pursue a bachelor's degree, critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross income), involved in co-curricular and community service activities, 2.o GPA - due by October 25
  • Coca-Cola Scholars Program - senior must have a 3.0 or higher - apply online at http://www.coca-colascholarsfoundation.org/applicants/#.Viel_rEo6M8 - due by October 31
  • Stokes Educational Scholarship Program - must major in computer science, or computer/electrical engineering - Senior in high school, ACT at least 25 or SAT of 1200, GPA 3.0, U.S. citizen - go to: www.IntelligenceCareers.gov/NSA - due from September 1 through October 31
  • Prudential Spirit of Community Award - this award is to recognize middle and high school students for volunteer service in their community - apply at http://spirit.prudential.com or www.nassp.org/spirit - due by November 8
  • Hagan Scholarship Foundation - intended for high achieving students who will require financial assistance in order to attend college - go to:  www.hsfmo.org - due November 15

  • Greenhouse Scholar - attend a four-year institution, 3.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need (household income no greater than $70,000), strong interest in and commitment to the community, persevere through difficult circumstances, and excellent leadership skills - go to www.greenhousescholars.fluidreview.com - due December 1
  • Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program - one student with a 2.8 GPA is nominated from the school for their commitment to community, academics, and demonstrated leadership - due December 3
  • Burger King McLamore Foundation Scholars Program - sr., maintain a 2.5 GPA, full-time enrollment in 2017-18 at a 2 or 4 year college, university, or trade school - go to https://www.scholarsapply.org/burgerkingscholars/ - available October 15 thru December 15
  • AXA Community Scholarship - based on ambition and drive, determination to set and reach goals, respect for self/family and community, abitlity to secceed in college  - go to: https://us.axa.com/axa-foundation/about.html - due December 15
  • Kankakee Iroquois Educational Office Professionals Scholarship - senior, must intend to continue in an office-related business program, must have completed two or more business education courses (four semesters), must be enrolled/expected as a full-time student in an institution of higher education (2-4 year College/University), must be responsible for the completion and return of all required support material - postmarked by December 16
  • NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation Scholarship - senior, attend a school of higher learning, and has an established business - go to: www.NFIB.com/YEA - due December 18
  • Thomas H Moore IEC Memorial Scholarship - Must be a high school senior and be the son or daughter of an IL Electric Cooperative consumer currently receiving service from the Cooperative- must be planning to enroll full-time in a college, university, or vocational/technical school - go to: www.eiec.coop - received by December 31
  • Children of Veterans Tuition Waiver - can be applied to the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign, Chicago, Springfield, or Health Sciences Center) - must be a natural or legal child of a veteran - priority deadline January 3
  • 2016 John F Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest - grades 9-12, essay about an elected official in the US who served during or after 1956, less than 1000 words, go to: www.jfklibrary.org - due January 4
  • GE-Reagan  Foundation Scholarship - demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship - go to:  www.reaganfoundation.org/education/scholarship-programs - due January 5
  • Timberline Billing Service Scholarship - senior with an IEP, must attend a college of higher learning, 500 word essay - received by January 15
  • Young Authors Writing Competition - students submit a poem, story, or essay - opens November and closes January 15
  • Nursing Scholarship-2017 Healthcare Leaders Scholarship - 3.0 GPA, accepted to or currently attending a nursing or mediacal related program at an accredited institution - go to:  http://nurse.org/healthcare-leaders/ - due January 29

  • National Honor Society Scholarship - Demonstrate outstanding character, scholarship, service, and leadership; must be a member of the National Honor Society.  All members may apply for the national scholarship.  Applications open November 1 and must completed by February 1

  • 1st Farm Credit Services - First Choice Agriculture Scholarship - furthering education in agriculture or rural life-related field, based on academic achievement, community and agriculture youth organization involvement and essays - received by February 15
  • Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois - for the class of 2016 who have the potential of being excellent teachers, scholars agree to teach five years in an Illinois school of need, scholars must attend four residential summer institutes - see Mrs. Smith for more information or go to:  www.goldenapple.org - due (priority) December 1 or February 15
  • Reynolds-Barwick Scholarship - top 30% of class, senior in an Iroquois County school and live in Iroquois - due February 15
  • Illinois Chemical Education Foundation High School Senior Scholarship - top senior science student, outstanding achievement in academics, extracurricular/employment activities, and community involvement - postmarked by February 17
  • Beta Sigma Psi Christian Leadership Award - Lutheran man, must attend University of Illinois, Indiana University, or Purdue Universtiy, Lutheran men - sue February 17
  • Zonta Club of Kankakee - Young Woman in Public Affairs Award - young women, ages 16-19 who demonstrates commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women - received by February 20

  • Lions Club Scholarships - Ashkum, Clifton, and Chebanse Lions Club Committees select scholarships for CHS students from their towns and surrounding areas - due March 31
  • Kankakee County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship - reside in Kankakee County or a Kankakee County Farm Bureau member family; accepted to an agriculture-related field of study; assessed based on character, personality, academic performance and honors, and financial need - due March 31
  • East Central Illinois Community Action Agency Scholarship - must reside in Iroquois county, must meet income guidelines - due March 31
  • Janie M. Wilken Memorial 4-H/FFA Scholarship - active member of a Ford-Iroquois  4-H Club for at least 5 years and/or a member of a Section 10 FFA Chapter for at least 3 years - contact janiesfarm@yahoo.com for a computer generated application - received by April 1

  • Iroquois County Republican Women's Club - female, senior, 3 year resident of Iroquois county, must be a registered voter when you are legally possible, proof US citizenship - due April 1
  • Lions of Illinois/District 1-DK - students entering college working toward a field of special education - due April 1
  •  Lee Bradford Scholarship - must be active in community service projects and/or volunteer opportunities, must live in Kankakee County, attend college or enroll in a vocational training program - due April 3
  • Ford-Iroquois Farm Bureau Foundation General Scholarship and the Skog Family Trust Memorial Scholarship - seniors pursuing an agriculture or an ag-related field, member or a child of a member of the Ford-Iroquois Farm Bureau - received April 3
  • Kiwanis Club of Kankakee Scholarship - demonstrate a commitment to school and community service and are focusing on a career with children or benefiting children-  Submitted by April 4
  • Marie Kimmel Memorial Scholarship - active member of a Lutheran church in Iroquois County, will seek a degree on a full-time basis - due April 5
  • Kankakee Area CAP Scholarship - 3.0 GPA, pursuing a career in science, math, health care, or technology - due April 5
  • Iroquois County Soil and Water Conservation District & Pheasants Forever Scholarship - resident of Iroquois County, demonstrate an interest in conservation - due April 7 to the guidance office
  • Iroquois County Law Enforcement Association Scholarship - live in Iroquois County pursuing a law enforcement field of study - postmarked by April 12
