New Scholarships and Other Opportunities for 2014-2015

Regular up-dates of scholarships and other opportunities

There will be regular up-dates of scholarship and other opportunities that are available for all grade levels.  Some information will have web addresses that you can visit.  Copy and paste the web address to your web browser to access these scholarships and programs.  Some scholarships do not have a web address and these scholarships and applications can be acquired in the guidance office.  Scholarships highlighted in this color are scholarships that are due very soon or recently past due.  Scholarships highlighted in this color are scholarship that are newly listed.

  • Kankakee County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship - reside in Kankakee County; accepted to an agriculture-related field of study; assessed based on character, personality, academic performance and honors, and financial neet - due March 31
  • Bethany Cailteux Scholarship  CHS senior planning on entering the medical field - due March 31
  • Central Athletic Booster Club Scholarship - CHS senior, who participated one or more sports for at least 2 years - due March 31
  • Central Federation of Teachers Scholarship - CHS seniors pursuing a field of education - due March 31
  • Central High School Reunion Classes 1965-66-67 College Scholarship - senior at CHS who will further their education - due March 31
  • Central Area Jaycees Susan Rosenboom Memorial Scholarship - CHS senior who will further their education in the health or social service field- due March 31
  • Chebanse American Legion Scholarship - sr., scholastic ability & community concern - due March 31
  • Dawn Schafer Memorial Scholarship - CHS senior pursuing a career in health, education, or agriculture at a four-year college or university - due March 31
  • Donnell B Trost and Russell & Marie Kuntz Scholarship - CHS senor - due March 31
  • Kerry Lee O'Brien Scholarship - sr. at CHS, essays - due March 31
  • Lions Club Scholarships - Ashkum, Clifton, and Chebanse Lions Club Committees select scholarships for CHS students from their towns and surrounding areas - due March 31
  • Smith, Koelling, Dykstra & Ohm Scholarship - senior accepted in an accounting program in a 4 year college or university or acceptance into the school's College of Business if no major is to be declared - due March 31
  • Central 5K Running to Remember...Mitch Widholm - All CHS senior(s) - due to the guidance office by April 1
  • Janie M. Wilken Memorial 4-H/FFA Scholarship - active member of a Ford-Iroquois  4-H Club for at least 5 years and/or a member of a Section 10 FFA Chapter for at least 3 years - contact janiesfarm@yahoo.com for a computer generated application - received by April 1
  • Katelyn Jeanne Graham Memorial Scholarship - CHS senior furthering their education - due April 1
  • Lee Braford Scholarship - must be active in community service projects and/or volunteer opportunities, Kankakee County senior, attend college in a vocational training program - due April 1
  • Ford-Iroquois Farm Bureau Foundation General Scholarship and the Skog Family Trust Memorial Scholarship - seniors pursuing an agriculture or an ag-related field, member or a child of a member of the Ford-Iroquois Farm Bureau - received April 1
  • Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Scholarships - Health Career Fields, Sherwood & Evelyn Kresin, Robert B. Perkins, and Louis L Williams Scholarships - due April 1
  • Lions of Illinois District 1-BK Scholarship - student entering the field of special education - due April 1
  • Clifford Bury Scholarship - live in Iroquois county, plan to become a teacher - due April 6
  • Marie Kimmel Memorial Scholarship - active member of a Lutheran church in Iroquois County, will seek a degree on a full-time basis - due April 10
  • Iroquois County Soil and Water Conservation District & Pheasants Forever Scholarship - resident of Iroquois County, demonstrate an interest in conservation - due April 10 to the guidance office
  • HomeStar-Kankakee County NAACP Scholarship - senior living in Kankakee County, 2.5 GPA, member of the K3 county NAACP - apply at www.HomeStarBank.com - due April 10
  • HomeStar-Kankakee County Hispanic Partnership Scholarship - senior living in Kankakee or Iroquois County, come from a Latino or Hispanic heritage, 2.0 GPA - apply at www.HomeStarBank.com - due April 10
  • Kiwanis Club of Kankakee Scholarship - demonstrate a commitment to school and community service with preference to those going to attend KCC or ONU - received by April 10, return to Mrs. Smith by April 9
  • Iroquois County Law Enforcement Association Scholarship - live in Iroquois County pursuing a law enforcement field of study - received by April 13
  • "NEW"  Larry Lemenager Memorial Ag Scholarship - preference will be given to students planning a career in the field of Agriculture - due April 15
  • Arlyn W. Rabideau Scholarship - senior at CHS who will further their education at a college, university, or technical/vocational school - due April 15
  • Clifton Lioness Club Scholarship - CHS senior who will pursue a special education field which include hearing impairment and visual impairment education - due April 15
  • Dave Ader Scholarship - CHS senior student - due April 15
  • Evelyn Dandurand Memorial Scholarship - member of the Central Band for at least 3 years, majoring or minoring in music or playing an instrument at the college level - due to band leader by April 15
  • Superintendent Scholarship - CHS senior, essay required - due April 15
  • Tom Norton Scholarship - CHS senior, must attend 4 year college or university - due April 15
  • Kankakee County 4-H/Youth Foundation Scholarship - good academic performance, participated in 4-H and youth programs in Kankakee County - received by April 15
  • Onarga Academy Scholarship - CHS senior who plan to enroll as a full-time student in a post high school curriculum - due April 17
  • East Central Illinois Community Action Agency Scholarship - must reside in Iroquois county, must meet income guidelines - due April 17
  • Sangamon Valley Conference Scholarships - based on GPA, class rank, participation in activities, and awards & honors - 5 categories:  academic, vocational, fine arts, male athlete, and female athlete - go to:  http://www.pblunit10.com/jeo/svc.htm - applications must be submitted to the principal - due April 23
  • "NEW"" Kankakee County Hispanic Parnership, Inc. Educational Gift Program - reside in Kankakee County and is of Hispanic or Latino heritage, 2.0 GPA, proof of enrollment in an educational program - due April 30
  • Illinois Electric Cooperative's La Vern and Nola McEntire Lineworker's Scholarship - seniors, parents are members of Illinois Electric Cooperative and receiving service, enrolled in the electric distribution lineworker programs at Lincoln Land Community College - received by April 30

  • Edna A. Willms Scholarship - based on achievement and financial need, character and involvement in school activities, volunteer activities, and community service - due May 1

  • Kankakee County Corn Growers Gene Novack Memorial Scholarship - pursue education in an agriculture or agriculture-related field of study and parent or grandparent must be a member of the Kankakee County Corn Growers - due June 1

  • Junior Woman's Club Gertrude Segur Arts Scholarship - Iroquois County high school senior active in an artistic endeavor in school (music, band, theater, dance, art, etc.) and accepted in pursuit of an art degree - due April 11

  • Kankakee Iroquois Educational Office Professionals Scholarship - senior, must intend to continue in an office-related business program, must have completed two or more business education courses (four semesters), must be enrolled/expected as a full-time student in an institution of higher education (2-4 year College/University), must be responsible for the completion and return of all required support material - due December 12
  • AXA Achievement  Scholarship - 1 scholarship from every state, only the first 10,000 applications will be accepted, ambition and drive, determination to set and reach goals, respect for self/family and community, abitlity to succeed in college  - go to: http://www.axa-achievement.com - due December 15

  • Illinois Electric Cooperatives Thomas H Moore Memorial Scholarship - Must be a high school senior and be the son or daughter of an IL Electric Cooperative consumer currently receiving service from the Cooperative- must be planning to enroll full-time in a college, university, or vocational/technical school - go to www.eiec.coop - received by December 31

  • National Honr Society Scholarship - Demonstrate outstanding character, scholarship, service, and leadership; must be a member of the National Honor Society.  NHS members must complete a CHS application & retun it by December 15.  CHS will nominate only two NHS members based on their CHS application.  The two applicants will receive the website address to apply for the national scholarship.  Applications must be returned to the advisors by December 15 & the national application is due January 26
  • FFA Scholarships - pursue an ag related field - go to:  www.ffa.org - begin applying on November 15 due February 1
  • Delta Kappa Gamma Education Recruitment Grant - female student planning to major in the field of education - received by February 1
  • AXA Community Scholarship - 375 winner nationwide, only the first 10,000 applications will be accepted, ambition and drive, determination to set and reach goals, respect for self/family and community, abitlity to secceed in college  - go to: http://www.axa-achievement.com - due February 1
  • CBAI Foundation for Community Banking Annual Scholarship - seniors, essay contest emphasizing the philosophy of the community banking industry - due February 4

  • Beta Sigma Psi Martin Luther Scholarship - young men who will be attending their first year at any accredited four-year college or university, must be confirmed in the Lutheran faith - due February 14
