Family & Consumer Sciences Department Expectations  - Wilken Version

Classroom Expectations
1. Be in your seat when the bell rings--- quiet, ready to work with your book, folder, paper, and pencil/pen (black or blue only).
2. Listen to directions so that they can be followed the first time.
3. Keep your hands, feet, and all objects to yourself.
4. Raise your hand to make a comment.
5. Use appropriate language as allowed by your teacher (no foul language or the use of the words “shut up” or “sucks”).
6. Leave all food, drinks, candy, and phone in your locker. Gum will be allowed in all classes but it better NOT leave your mouth!

Consequences (at teacher discretion)
1. 1st time--- Action plan completed prior to the end of the class period
2. 2nd time--- Action plan and possible after school detention
3. 3rd time--- Action plan and possible visit to Dean of Students/removal from class.
4. 4th time--- Action plan and possible meeting with parents, teacher, and administration

Classroom Procedures
1. In almost all cases, homework will be collected at the beginning of the class period. If it is not turned in on time, it is considered late and can be turned into the office by 8:15 the next school day for 75% of the possible points.
2. Students are not allowed in the teacher’s personal items, including the computer station and desk (unless permission is given).
3. If the teacher is absent and a substitute teacher reports misbehavior, extra work will be assigned at teacher discretion.
4. Points will be assigned to each assignment. (I don’t believe in wasting time.)

Extra Credit (limited to 5 points per week/non-retroactive)
2 points for a newspaper or magazine article, song, movie, cartoon related to class.
Up to 5 points for a hand-written, 10 sentence summary written about a class related topic with the resource information attached.
Up to 5 points for bringing in fabric or other sewing supplies to share with other students.
Up to 5 points for crafting, sewing and/or repairing something at home and bringing it in.
Up to 5 points for preparing a food item at home and bringing it in to share with the whole class. Permission must be first granted by the teacher.
