BRRRRR----IT IS COLD OUTSIDE!!
Well, it IS January and we DO live in Illinois, so there's no big surprise that it is very cold outside. We have had a nice reprieve from snow up until recently!! The students have been very conscientious about wearing warm clothes and coats, gloves, scarves, and boots. They have also done a wonderful job of tolerating recess inside and not being able to get out to run off some of their energy. I am very proud of them.
Following are some of the things that we have been up to in 3C:
Reading: The 3rd Grade classes has been seeing good success in our Walking Reading program. In this Walking Reading we have divided the students into four groups based on the results of their reading AIMSweb benchmarking test. This then gives each teacher the ability to differentiate the reading curriculum according to what the need of their group is. The AIMSweb benchmarking testing will be done again next week., where we can take a look to see if there should be any changes in the needs of any student.
Math: We have been studying in Chapter 10 where we are learning many geometry terms and how to use them. We are also making a journal of all of the terms, definitions, and examples to help us to study them. The next chapter will focus on measurement, such as inch, foot, yard, mile, cap0acity, cup, pint, quart, and gallon. Those are just naming a few of the types of measurement that we will be learning about.
