....MRS. FELESENA

HELLO AND WELCOME TO 3C!!

My name is Mrs. Karla Felesena and it is my pleasure to teach your children this year in the 3rd grade.  I am part of a great team of four 3rd grade teachers and we are all looking forward to a great year together with your children.

I am originally from this area and graduated from Central High School.  I then  graduated with a Bachelors degree in Social Work from Illinois State University and went back to college at Olivet University to receive my Masters in Teaching.  I previously taught 4th grade. For three years I was the director of a wonderful mentoring program called the Horizons Mentoring Program for our school district.  Now I am teaching 3rd grade and absolutely love the 3rd grade.

I live in the country outside of Chebanse with my husband, Mark. We have three children, Tony, Jenna, and Kristen, who have all graduated from our great school district.  Tony is a police officer and is married to Stephanie. Jenna is studying to be a registered nurse and is married to Nick.  Kristen is a Junior at Illinois State University and studied in Greece this summer through the university's study-abroad program.  It is so true that time flies when you are having fun.  Mark and I have enjoyed being a very active part of this school district over the years as parents and myself as a teacher.

You will notice that the theme of our classroom is STARS

I chose that theme because it is representative of children.  Each one is unique in their own way, and it is my privilege to find out what it is that makes each one shine.  I look forward to working with them and with you, their parents, to help them to grow and to succeed in the 3rd grade.

"When someone is taught the joy of learning it becomes a lifelong process that never stops. That is the challenge and joy of teaching".

Marva Collins, teacher and founder of Westside Preparatory School
