Welcome to Health Class

We are off to a great start in Health class! I am pleased to announce I have the opportunity to work with a student teacher this year. My first ever! Her name is Michelle Christ and she is a student at ISU getting ready to graduate in December. Ms. Christ will be teaching all Health classes starting September 9. Please plan to attend the Open House on September 7 to meet her and introduce yourself.
We have just begun our unit on the various systems of the body and the first unit test is fast approaching. Students will receive daily homework and quizzes and I encourage them to keep all paperwork to help them study for the unit tests. The semester exam is composed of questions from the unit tests.
Our next unit will be Nutrition and Fitness, next is the Drug and Alcohol unit, and then we will get to the much anticipated Reproduction unit. Along with the Reproduction unit comes the baby project. Are you ready?! We will end the year with the Red Cross unit and they will go into summer break certified in First Aid and CPR. Please encourage your student to keep up with the homework assignments and projects as they are a significant part of their grade. Please check the "Got Homework" portion of my website for daily assignments.
Please let me know if you ever have any questions or concerns about Health class. I understand that some of the issues I deal with in my class are sensitive issues to discuss. I feel it is very important that all of my students know that abstinence (from sexual contact, drugs, and alcohol) is the safest and healthiest choice they can make for their life. My entire course works to show them why this is true.
