HELLO TO YOU,

You’ve stopped off at Dan Denton’s little ol' web page.  I am currently in my 31st year in teaching and coaching.  I have made several stops along the way and have coached just about every sport that has been offered.  There have been several wonderful moments in my coaching career, but one that will always standout is in “1988.” I was fortunate enough to take a basketball team from St. Elmo to the Finals of the IHSA State Tourney and placed 4th, finishing with a 28-4 record.  There have been so many other moments that have happened along the way but, what makes them special, the kids themselves…  I relish the times that former players and students take to contact or stop in and let me know how they are doing and to see how I am doing.  That is the greatest gift that this profession can give back to us.

I have also been blessed with a wonderful family, my wife Chris, who is going back to school herself and getting her teaching degree, daughter Nikki, who is teaching and coaching, and daughter Samantha, who is going to Parkland Jr. College.

I currently teach Drivers Education and PE, and I am coaching girl's basketball at Kankakee Community College, as well as softball at Iroquois-West High School.

This is the first of many entries for the 2007-2008 year.  My classes are as follows:  1st hour- Dr. Education- 31 students, 2nd hour- Dr. Education- 10 students, 3rd hour- Personal Development-20, 4th hr-Prep, 5th hr-Dr. Education-11 students, 6th hr.-Prep, 7th hr.-PE-20 students, 8th hr.-9 students.  We have gotten off to a solid start in all of our classses.  The drivers ed. classes have covered such topics as instructional permits, requirements for obtaining your instructional permits, and ultimately receiving one's drivers license.  Also, we've covered various laws pertaining to speed, road rage, signs, and various roadway markings.  The PD class is off to a roaring start.  They have been very enthusiastic and they have embraced the weight lifting program as well as the cardio workout we do at the end of class.  I will add more as time passes on.  If there is ever any questions pertaining to your child, please start with me for the answers.  Be back at you soon!!!  Go Cards!!!!!

If you need to contact me about your child's progress, you can e-mail me at ddenton@cusd4.org.
