HELLO TO YOU,

You’ve stopped off at Dan Denton’s little stellar' web page. I am currently in my 33rd year in teaching and coaching. I have made several stops along the way and have coached just about every sport that has been offered. There have been several wonderful moments in my coaching career, but one that will always standout is in “1988.” I was fortunate enough to take a basketball team from St. Elmo to the Finals of the IHSA State Tourney and placed 4^th, finishing with a 28-4 record. There have been so many other moments that have happened along the way but, what makes them special, the kids themselves… I relish the times that former players and students take to contact or stop in and let me know how they are doing and to see how I am doing. That is the greatest gift that this profession can give back to us.

I have also been blessed with a wonderful family, my wife Chris, who is going back to school herself and getting her teaching degree, daughter Nikki, who is teaching and coaching, and daughter Samantha, who is going to Parkland Jr. College.

I currently teach Drivers Education,Organizational Leadership, and PE, and I am coaching girl's basketball at Kankakee Community College.

This is the first of many entries. We have gotten off to a solid start in all of our classes. The Organizational Leadership class is off to a steller start. We ave had several interesting speakers such as: Col. Kasler war hero and P.O.W., Philip Culperpper a government agent, and traveled to Milwaukee to visit the Milwaukee Bucks complex. John Hammond, the Bucks general manger, spoke to the students and were treated to a wonderful time. The drivers ed. classes have covered such topics as instructional permits, requirements for obtaining your instructional permits, and ultimately receiving one's drivers license. Also, we've covered various laws pertaining to speed, road rage, signs, and various roadway markings. The PE class is off to a roaring start. They have been very enthusiastic and they have embraced the fitness and cardio workouts along with the activities. I will add more as time passes on.
