Welcome to the 2008-09 school year. I hope you all had a wonderful summer and feel refreshed as we begin another year of school at Clifton Central.
For those of you who I have not met yet, my name is Rebecca Swigert and this will be my 5th year teaching at Clifton Central. Currently, I teach 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. More specifically, I teach World History Honors, Psychology, Sociology, U.S. History II, and U.S. History II Honors. Several of the aforementioned classes are only one semester so it is important to get off on a positive note.
In addition to my teaching duties, I also coach 8th grade girls’ basketball, JV girls’ basketball, and Varsity girls’ track and field. I love all sports and feel honored to have the opportunity to share my passion with my players. When I am not teaching or coaching, I am usually watching or listening to a game somewhere.
I am not originally from the area. I grew up in Galesburg, Illinois, and went to high school at Petersburg PORTA, a small school near Springfield. I graduated from Illinois State University with a B.S. in History Education and a minor in Psychology.
I am very excited to get the year underway…perhaps not as excited as my incoming seniors, but excited nonetheless. As many of you know, our district made the smart decision to implement Skyward, a computer program that will allow parents and students alike to access grades. This should be very convenient for all of our busy schedules. However, if you have a specific question or wish to further inquire on a particular matter or grade, please feel free to contact me via email at rswigert@cusd4.org or contact the CHS office at 815-694-2321.
In the meantime, I hope the school year starts out as smooth as possible for everyone and I look forward to meeting many of you at Open House.
