WELCOME TO C.H.S.

A NEW SCHOOL YEAR WITH SOME NEW FACES

by Martin D. Felesena

July 04, 2008

I am excited about the opportunity to serve the great Communities of Central Community Unit School District No. 4 as the Principal of Central High School for the 2008-2009 school year. In an attempt to introduce myself, I am including some concise, biographical information about my background, my education, my family, and my experience. I spent my childhood in Aroma Park and graduated from Grace Baptist Academy in Kankakee. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Olivet Nazarene University and my Master of Education Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. I currently reside in Bourbonnais with my wife of seven years, Jeanne, and our two daughters, Sydney (2½) and Mykala (7 months). I enjoy fishing, traveling, and golfing. My educational experience includes: student teaching in the Momence School District, teaching and coaching in the Manteno School District, and nine years of administrative service in the Wilmington School District. My most recent position was Principal of L.J. Stevens Middle School in Wilmington for the past six years.

We are looking forward to the prospects and challenges that we will face together as we strive to ensure that every student has a successful, productive, and enjoyable high school experience. It is a common belief that it takes an entire community effort to truly educate a child and the Communities of Central Community Unit School District No. 4 have the wonderful reputation of consistently supporting and enriching their educational system. We challenge our educators, parents and students to keep the lines of communication open at all times and to view every situation from several different perspectives. If we always communicate effectively and always treat one another with respect, our students will always find themselves in a successful situation. It is our goal that these four, brief years of high school are the very best years of every student’s life.

We have several other new faces in the C.H.S. office this year.  Ms. Diane Behrends has accepted the position of Principal's Secretary and Bookkeeper, Mr. James K. Harkins has moved into the role of Dean of Students, and Mr. Jeff Fenton will lead the Athletic Department in the capacity of Athletic Director for the 2008-2009 school year.

We look forward to working with each of you during the 2008-2009 school year. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to stop by, contact us by phone at (815) 694-2321, or send us an e-mail at mfelesena@cusd4.org, jharkins@cusd4.org, or jfenton@cusd4.org.

Respectfully,

Martin D. Felesena
