Red Cross Unit

by Eva McGill

November 28, 2007

Isn't it amazing how quickly a semester goes?!  We are already to our American Red Cross unit.  I am pleased to say that in the next few weeks all Health students will learn and be certified by the American Red Cross in adult, child, and infant CPR as well as first aid.  The students are excited to get away from the Health textbook and do some hands-on activities with the mannequins.

The Red Cross unit does cost $15 per student.  This fee pays for the book that they get to keep as well as the equipment we use such as mannequins, gloves, breathing barriers, and first aid kits.  If the student has paid the $15 and passes each skills and written tests they will be certified in that area and will receive extra credit for working all the way to certification.  If your family has financial difficulty with the fee, please let me know as soon as possible so we can come up with a solution.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and that the holiday season treats you well.  Final exams will be here before long and then two weeks off and a new semester!
